Knowing where and how to spend those few minutes on the right marketing is key to getting consistent and long term traffic. While most of us are spending time networking, scrolling through Instagram, or just trying to stay on top of responding to emails, you have a gold mine that’s waiting to be used.
Your blog is actually meant to be used as your traffic driver, and not just another place to share your work.
Creating helpful content for your clients is where you can drive more traffic from Google, more traffic from Pinterest, and more traffic from social media.
Knowing what types of content to post and how to use it is key to getting those ideal brides + clients.
1. Blogging gives you local traffic
“Backlinks are incoming links to a webpage. When a web page links to any other page, it’s called a backlink. In the past, backlinks were the major metric for the ranking of a web page. A page with a lot of backlinks tended to rank higher on all major search engines, including Google.” –http://www.webconfs.com/importance-of-backlinks-article-5.php
As a wedding professional, you can use this technique to backlink venues, other wedding vendors, or even places you want to book.
For example, you can create a blog post that’s:
“The 4 best rustic wedding venues in (your town, state)”
“The 10 best sunset spots for engagement photo’s in (your town, state)”
2. Get your blog posts on bigger blogs + wedding publications
Get your website on sites that have more traffic and more eyes on them. Instead of worrying about your traffic, use someone else’s site that already has more traffic than your site.
This is also an SEO technique to get your website on sites that have more traffic like a wedding blog, a wedding publication, or an online wedding magazine.
You can do this by guest posting. Again, sharing your education and pitching your idea to bigger outlets can help your blog rank higher in the search engines.
3. Get the most out of sharing your work through your blog
Capitalize on all the links, Google images, and keywords.
Links: Make sure you’re linking all the vendors you mention in your blog posts.
Google images: When uploading photos, use keywords to name the photos. For example, instead of naming the photo “jamieandjohn3,” name it “nycbotanicalgardenwedding,” so when a potential bride is searching for this venue and wedding ideas, TADA, guess who pops up?
Don’t have your own pictures? No problem, this is an even better way to connect with other wedding vendors.
For example, if you’re a floral designer, sharing images of your work from a couple different weddings, credit + link all the photographers.
Connections = hello more clients!
4. How to find words that brides use to search // SEO Ninja style
Use the Google keyword finder, search for keywords that are low in competition and high in search.

Click on “Search for new keywords using a phrase, website or category”
Now you want to find keywords that range in monthly searches within the 1k – above but are also low in competition.
This can take some investigating, so don’t give up.
If you only find keywords that have a decent search rate like (1k-10k) and medium in competition, I would jot it down and use it in your blog posts + on your website.
5. Google images
When you upload an image to a blog post, make sure the image is titled in google search terms. For example if you upload an image from a wedding and it’s titled “jenandjamie233” rename it to something brides would be searching for like “nycbotanicalgardenwedding” or use the google keyword terms.
Google images is really popular, especially with brides, so make sure your blog post images are being found when they are searching for inspiration.
Now the next best thing you can do to get traffic is to set aside a couple hours at a coffee shop and plan out your blog posts for the next 2 months. Use all the techniques I taught you, and stick to your strategy for at least 30 days.
This strategy helped me to create $40,000 in wedding business and the new owners of my business have already booked $50,000 in wedding business entirely through their blog and SEO.
